Tired of eating savory dips at social gatherings? Our contest-winning chocolate chip dip is a sweet dip that no one expects but everyone loves. This fluffy, airy and spreadable dessert dip is made with cream cheese, butter, two different sugars, vanilla extract and a mound of mini chocolate chips. It seriously tastes like you’re eating a chocolate chip cookie dough dip. Who can say no to that?

Ingredients for Chocolate Chip Dip

  • Cream cheese: Our chocolate chip cookie dough dip uses cream cheese as the base of the recipe, so go ahead and buy one of the best cream cheese brands from the store.
  • Butter: Since this is a no-cook recipe, you’ll really be able to taste the butter. Go for one of the best butter brands as recommended by our Test Kitchen pros.
  • Confectioners’ sugar: This type of powdered sugar dissolves much more easily than granulated sugar, which is important in no-bake recipes. Confectioners’ sugar also whips up beautifully for an airy and easy-to-scoop dip.
  • Chocolate chips: Since there are so few ingredients in this dip, it’s important that each ingredient is good quality. Go for the best chocolate chip brands you can find.

Directions

Step 1: Whip together the base

In a small bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the cream cheese and butter until it’s at a fluffy consistency. Add the sugars and the vanilla, and beat until the mixture is smooth and spreadable.

Step 2: Fold in the chocolate chips

Using a rubber spatula, fold in the chocolate chips. Transfer the mixture to a serving bowl, and serve the dip alongside graham cracker sticks.

Editor’s Tip: Other great dipping choices include strawberries, wafer cookies and plain butter cookies.

Recipe Variations

  • Swap in other chips: Swap out the semisweet chocolate for another type. Milk, dark, white and even butterscotch chips would all work here.
  • Omit the chocolate chips: Skip the chocolate chips, and swap in crushed Oreos, Andes Mints or M&M minis. Even crushed brownies will work, or you could just make our brownie batter dip.
  • Use a different flavor of cream cheese: Strawberry, cinnamon and even pumpkin cream cheese will kick up the flavor of this chocolate chip dip beautifully.
  • Enhance the dip’s flavor: A tiny splash of extract can take this chocolate chip dip to new horizons. For example, a little peppermint will give this dip a mint chocolate chip taste. Get creative!

How to Store Chocolate Chip Dip

Place the chocolate chip dip in an airtight container, and store in the fridge for up to four days. This is the perfect make-ahead dip—just be sure to thaw it at room temperature for about 30 minutes so it’s easier to scoop. Keep in mind, cream cheese-based dips cannot be out of the fridge for longer than two hours!

Is there a kid around (or a kid at heart) who wouldn’t gobble up this cookie dough dip with graham crackers? It beats dunking them in milk, hands down! You can also try it with apple wedges. —Heather Koenig, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin
