  • ¼ cup of butter
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 medium orange, zested and juiced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons teriyaki sauce
  • 1-1/2 pounds fully cooked bone-in ham steak

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Stir in brown sugar, honey, Dijon, orange juice, orange zest, garlic and teriyaki sauce. Cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Pour in a large shallow dish. Cool to room temperature. Add ham steak. Let stand 20 minutes, turning once.
  2. Remove ham from dish, reserving remaining butter mixture. Grill ham, covered, over medium heat until heated through and lightly browned, about 10 minutes, brushing with butter mixture and turning once.

  2. Combine butter, onion and mustard. Drizzle cut side of each roll half with 1 teaspoon butter mixture. Layer roll bottom with 1 folded egg portion, 1 slice ham, 1 slice cheese, 2 bacon strip halves, remaining folded egg portion, 2 pickles and roll top; return to foil pan.   1. In a small bowl, combine the first 7 ingredients; set aside. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat. Add squash, brown sugar and fresh ginger. Cook, covered, until tender, 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; cool.
  2. Preheat griddle over medium heat. For batter, in a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda and reserved cinnamon mixture. In a blender, combine milk, chai concentrate, egg yolks, melted butter, vanilla and cooled squash mixture. Cover and process until pureed. Stir into dry ingredients just until combined. In a small bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter.
  3. Lightly grease griddle. Pour batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto griddle; cook until bubbles on top begin to pop and bottoms are golden brown. Turn; cook until second side is golden brown. If desired, serve with maple syrup and chopped walnuts.
  4. Freeze option: Freeze cooled pancakes between layers of waxed paper in a freezer container. To use, place pancakes on an ungreased baking sheet, cover with foil and reheat in a preheated 375° oven until heated through, 5-10 minutes. Or, place 2 pancakes on a microwave-safe plate and microwave on high until heated through, 45-90 seconds.

  • 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin or 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes

  • 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke, optional
  • 1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 3 cups miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup marshmallow creme
  • 1/2 cup 2% milk
  • 1 cup crushed miniature meringue cookies

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. In a small bowl, mix 3 cups cracker crumbs, butter and 1/3 cup brown sugar. Press onto bottom of a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake until set, 12-15 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
  2. Preheat broiler. Place marshmallows on a rimmed baking sheet. Broil 3-4 in. from heat just until golden brown, 30-60 seconds, rotating pan as needed. Transfer to a large bowl. Beat in cream cheese, pumpkin, pie spice, remaining 1/3 cup brown sugar and if desired, liquid smoke. Gently fold in whipped topping. Spread over cooled crust. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small heavy saucepan, heat chocolate chips, marshmallow creme and milk over very low heat until melted and smooth, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Pour over pumpkin filling. Sprinkle with meringue cookies and remaining 1/2 cup cracker crumbs. Refrigerate, covered, at least 4 hours. Cut into bars. Refrigerate leftovers.

  1. In a small heavy saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add shallots; cook and stir until tender, 3-4 minutes. Add cider and broth; bring to a boil. Cook until liquid is reduced by half, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and keep warm.
  2. For ravioli, in a large bowl, combine squash, sweet potatoes, melted butter, syrup and cinnamon. Spoon about 1 tablespoon mixture in the center of a wonton wrapper. (Keep wrappers covered with a damp paper towel until ready to use.) Moisten edges with water; top with another wonton wrapper. Pinch edges to seal, pressing around filling to remove air pockets. Directions

  1. In a Dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add squash, pumpkin and onion; cook and stir until crisp-tender, 6-8 minutes. Add sausage and garlic; cook until sausage is browned, 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add broth, diced tomatoes, cream cheese, chipotle pepper and cumin. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, until squash is tender, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in black beans, Mexicorn and basil; heat through. Garnish with additional basil.

By submitting a recipe for this Contest, you grant Sponsor, its parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and licensees unrestricted use of the submitted entry which includes the right to publish your recipe and any other information provided worldwide in all print and electronic media (now or hereafter existing) without time limitation, and the right to include your name and hometown (e.g., city and state) in connection therewith. Sponsor reserves the right to edit, modify, translate, reproduce and distribute the submitted material in any medium and in any manner as it deems appropriate. Sponsor tests selected recipes and reserves the right to alter them as it deems appropriate. By submitting a recipe for this Contest, you further agree that Sponsor may, in its discretion, select your recipe for entry in one or more future best of, roundup or similar recipe contests conducted by Sponsor, in which event you consent to such entry and agree to be bound by the applicable rules for such contest(s). Sponsor may contact you via phone or email regarding your submission.

3. Judging: The winner of the Contest will be determined by judging all qualifying entrants submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Taste: 25%
    • Does this recipe taste great with every bite? Does it have mass appeal? Would you want to make this recipe over and over again based on taste alone? Does it contain interesting, yet gratifying flavor combinations?
  • Visual Appeal: 25%
    • Does this recipe present beautifully on a plate or in a baking dish? Do your eyes make you want to eat this before you even smell or taste it?
  • Creativity: 25%
    • Is the recipe your original idea? Is the recipe reflective of unique twists to ingredient usage? Have you incorporated your personal touch to this recipe?
  • Crowd Appeal: 25%
    • Does your recipe appeal to fellow home cooks everywhere? Does the recipe have easy-to-find everyday ingredients and is it easy to make? Does the recipe have a story that will inspire many others to make it?

All entries will be judged using the criteria stated above. In the event of a tie, the highest scoring entry in the Creativity category will be the winner. All judging will be accomplished by a panel of Taste of Home food experts. Decision of the judges is final and binding on all matters relating to this Contest.

4. Winners and Prizes: A total of 4 winners will be selected as follows: one Grand Prize winner will be awarded $500; one first place winner will be awarded $300; one second place winner will be awarded $150; and one third place winner will be awarded $75. The total value of all prizes in this Contest is $1,025.00. The winner of the Grand Prize in this Contest will be ineligible to win the Grand Prize in any other Taste of Home recipe contest for one year following the close of this Contest, but they may enter such contests for which they are otherwise eligible and may win other prizes in such contests. Each winner agrees that the publishing rights granted above will be exclusive to Sponsor, its parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and licensees for use in any magazine and/or cookbook in any media (now or hereafter existing) for a period of one year after the date a prize is awarded; following such period, such publishing rights shall continue on a non-exclusive basis. Each prize is not transferable and cannot be substituted or assigned by the winner, unless prohibited by law. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a similar prize of equal or greater value in the event that the stated prize cannot be awarded for any reason. All taxes, if any, are the winners responsibility. Sponsor will not be responsible for any loss, liability or damage arising out of the winners acceptance or use of the prize(s). All prizes are guaranteed to be awarded, assuming a sufficient number of qualifying entries is received and meet the minimum judging criteria.

5. Selection of Winners: Winners will be determined and notified on or about November 8, 2024, by regular mail and/or email. Any winner may be required to execute a Statement of Eligibility and Release and Payment Authorization within 30 days of prize notification attempt or winner will be disqualified and prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. In the event winner is a minor in his or her place of residence, all required documentation must be signed by parent or legal guardian. Return of prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected. Sponsor is not liable for any malfunctions or failures of any telephone network or lines, computer internet system, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants or any other persons computer, mobile or any other device and/or its contents related to or resulting from participation or downloading/uploading any materials relating to this Contest, or other technical difficulties or failures or other errors of any kind. Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • CHOCOLATE BUTTERCREAM FILLING:
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 3 tablespoons baking cocoa
  • Dash salt
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted and cooled slightly

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. In a small bowl, dissolve coffee granules in hot water. Cool to room temperature.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in coffee mixture. Gradually beat in flour.
  3. Using a cookie press fitted with a disk of your choice, press dough 1 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake until set (do not brown), 10-12 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.
  4. In a small bowl, beat butter, confectioners' sugar, cocoa and salt until light and fluffy, 3-5 minutes. Gradually beat in melted chocolate. Spread on bottoms of half the cookies; cover with remaining cookies.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound maple-flavored bacon strips
  • 1 loaf (16 ounces) ciabatta bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups cubed peeled butternut squash (1/2-inch cubes)
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt, divided
  • 1 teaspoon pepper, divided
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh sage
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 9 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1-1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • FRIED SAGE LEAVES:
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup fresh sage leaves
  • Maple syrup

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°. Arrange bacon strips in a single layer in a 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake until crisp, 15-18 minutes. Remove bacon to paper towels to drain, reserving drippings in pan. Add bread cubes to dripping; toss to coat. Bake until lightly browned, 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook and stir until softened, 3-5 minutes. Add garlic; cook and stir 1 minute longer. Stir in squash, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Cook and stir until squash starts to soften, 6-8 minutes. Add 1/2 cup water; cover and cook until squash is tender, 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in sage.
  3. Arrange bread cubes in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with bacon and the squash mixture; toss gently to combine. Sprinkle with cheddar and Gorgonzola. Whisk eggs, cream, milk, Italian seasoning, and the remaining 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper; slowly pour over bread mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350°. Bake, uncovered, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, 50-55 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, in a small skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Stir until butter is lightly browned; skim off foam. Add sage leaves; fry until just crispy, 1-2 minutes. Remove sage to paper towels to drain. Serve strata with fried sage and maple syrup.
