Our pear martini is layered with simple ingredients to let the pear notes shine. It starts with pear vodka that’s shaken with tart, fresh lemon juice and less than an ounce of simple syrup for just a hint of sweetness. Cocktails are more fun with a garnish. Use a fresh pear slice for this pear martini cocktail!
Ingredients for Pear Martini
- Pear vodka: Pear-infused vodka acts as a two-for-one ingredient in this pear vodka martini. If you want to use up your plain vodka at home, shake it with a bit of pear juice or pear nectar for the same effect.
- Lemon juice: Always use fresh lemon juice when making cocktails. The pre-bottled stuff is harsh and nowhere near as fresh-tasting as just-squeezed lemon juice.
- Simple syrup: Make simple syrup at home or buy a bottle of pre-made simple syrup.
- Pear slice: Pear slices create a beautiful garnish. Once you slice the pears, squeeze fresh lemon juice on them so they don’t turn brown.
Directions
Step 1: Create the base
Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice. Pour in the pear vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup.
Step 2: Shake it vigorously
Cover the shaker with the lid and shake until condensation forms on the outside of the shaker, 10 to 15 seconds.
Step 3: Strain and garnish
Strain the cocktail into a martini glass. If desired, garnish with pear slices.
Recipe Variations
- Add elderflower liqueur: Pear and elderflower are a beautiful flavor pairing. Elderflower has notes of pear along with a floral, fruity and fresh taste.
- Make it less sweet: Prefer drier cocktails? Decrease the simple syrup to a 1/2-ounce instead.
- Intensify the pear flavor: Splash in a bit of pear juice or pear nectar to concentrate the pear flavor.
How to Store a Pear Martini
Pour the leftovers of your pear martini into a Mason jar, or cover the martini glass with storage wrap. Leftover pear martini can be kept in the fridge for up to three days. Give it a very good stir (or shake it in a cocktail shaker) before enjoying again.
Can I make a pear martini ahead of time?
Yes, you can make this pear martini recipe ahead of time. Measure and pour the ingredients into a Mason jar (besides the pear garnish) and keep it in the fridge for up to three days. Serve a pear martini in a martini glass. If you like a very cold cocktail, chill the glass in the freezer before shaking up the cocktail.
Our pear vodka martini is perfect to drink while picking at salty appetizers. Marinated almond-stuffed olives or these crispy and cheesy mixed olive crostini are very easy to whip up last minute. We also love salty autumnal appetizers with this pear martini recipe, like mushroom and leek strudel or apple-gouda pigs in a blanket.
